Frequently Asked Questions

When should I schedule an assessment?

If you are under 35, schedule after 12 months of trying. If you are 35 or older, schedule after 6 months. Book sooner any time cycles are irregular, periods are very painful, there is a known factor like endometriosis or PCOS, or if you simply want a plan.

What is included in a Fertility Assessment?

Your assessment can include preconception and carrier screening, ovarian reserve and endocrine labs, a pelvic ultrasound with antral follicle count, a HyFoSy ultrasound tubal patency test when indicated, and a semen analysis that reports count, motility, and morphology. We review results together and turn them into a simple plan.

Is HyFoSy different from HSG?

Yes. HyFoSy uses ultrasound and a gentle foam contrast to check if the fallopian tubes are open. HSG uses X-ray and an iodine dye. HyFoSy avoids radiation and iodine and is often better tolerated.

Do you test both partners?

Yes. We assess ovarian hormones and anatomy, and we evaluate semen health. Looking at both partners gives a clearer picture and a more accurate plan.

How soon will I have a plan?

Most patients leave the visit with a preliminary plan. Some labs return in 1 to 3 days. If results change the plan, we update quickly by message or follow up.

How long does the visit take?

The initial visit is usually 45 to 60 minutes. If you have a same-day ultrasound or lab draw, plan for a little extra time. HyFoSy, when scheduled, typically takes 15 to 30 minutes.

How do I prepare for the appointment?

Bring your medication list and any prior fertility or OB/GYN records. Drink water so labs are easier. For semen analysis, plan 2 to 5 days of abstinence unless we advise otherwise. Avoid heavy fragrance on the day of testing.

Does cycle timing matter for the assessment?

We can meet at any point in your cycle to start the conversation and order tests. Some labs and ultrasounds are timed to specific cycle days. We will map the timing for you so it is easy to follow.

Will the HyFoSy or ultrasound be uncomfortable?

Most patients describe mild cramping with HyFoSy that settles quickly. You can take an over-the-counter pain reliever if you are comfortable doing so. Pelvic ultrasound is typically well tolerated.

Can I do the first visit by telehealth?

Yes, the first visit can be virtual. We can review history, order labs and imaging, and plan in-person testing when needed.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ patients and single parents by choice?

Yes. We regularly support LGBTQ+ family building and single parents by choice. Your plan is tailored to your goals, with clear guidance on donor options and timing.

What if my partner is out of town?

We can coordinate a semen analysis on a day that works or arrange outside collection with proper handling. We will outline the steps so the sample is valid for testing.

Will insurance cover the assessment?

Coverage varies by plan. We are in network with several commercial insurers. We are not contracted with United Health, Cigna, Molina, or Apple plans. We provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Self-pay is due at the time of service.

How much does it cost if I self pay?

Common self-pay prices include: new patient consultation 225 dollars, monitoring ultrasound 180 dollars, lab processing for outside orders 25 dollars, HyFoSy 525 dollars, HSG 700 dollars, semen analysis 175 dollars. We will give you a clear estimate before testing.

Where are you located and where do I park?

We are at 111 Sunset Ave N, Suite 201, Edmonds, WA 98020, just north of the ferry. Look for the building marked 111 Sunset and the eagle mural on the south side. Reserved parking spots are #2 by the dumpster and #8 under the building near the fence. There is 3-hour street parking as well. The clinic is on the second floor by stairs and there is no elevator.

How do I schedule or ask questions?

You can schedule online or contact us by phone or email. If you need a time-sensitive slot and do not see one available, email us and we will try to accommodate.

What happens after results are in?

We review results quickly, explain what they mean in plain language, and adjust your plan if needed. You will know your next step and when to take it.

What if testing shows IVF is the best route?

If IVF offers the best chance based on your data, we will explain why and refer you to a trusted partner clinic. You will leave with a clear plan either way.
